So Monday was my birthday, and after class we had a little party in one of the cabanas where we hold lessons.

On Thursday us students with our teachers hiked about 40 minutes to a nearby waterfall:

It’s bean harvest time, so a lots of people are shucking and drying beans in the mornings before it rains:

And in the afternoon, it rains:

And the whole family huddles inside, usually without power, and waits it out:

On Friday there was a party, and one family used the wood oven to make rosquillas – cane sugar cookies:
